Our Music Teachers

Ruth Kenote

Picture
Ruth is thrilled to be Music Directing her third show at Redmond Academy! Coming from a family of professional musicians, Ruth has been making music her entire life, and teaching Voice for over fifteen years. A student of both Houghton College and Australia’s Victorian College of the Arts, she holds a degree in Vocal Performance, with a foundation in both classical and contemporary techniques.

As a native New Yorker, Ruth has worked extensively in the NY/NJ theatre scene. Favorite past performances include the premier run of The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Paper Mill Playhouse, Jenny in It Shoulda Been You, Lucy (Beggar Woman) in Sweeney Todd, Nancy in OLIVER!, Marta in Company, Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act, Constanze in Amadeus, and the fierce Dragon in Shrek: The Musical.

In addition to musical theater, Ruth possesses a love for jazz, and - true to her classical roots - art song and opera. Favorite classical performances include Carmen in Bizet's Carmen, Marcellina in Mozart's La Nozze di Figaro, and appearing with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra as the alto soloist for Beethoven's 9th Symphony. When she is not involved in a show, Ruth enjoys the outdoors, a good cup of coffee, and running her private studio, where she teaches voice and acting!

Leah Astle

Leah has been a part of RATA since she was seven years old!

She absolutely loves working with kids and all things theatre. She has been a part of many productions in the past as an actor. Favorites include Newsies! (Les), 42nd Street (Dorothy Brock), and Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney).
Leah was the Assistant Music Director for Peter Pan Jr. and you might have  also caught her as the Assistant Music Director in Frozen Jr.

Gianugo Rabellino
(he/him)

Picture
Gianugo is a classically trained singer, pianist, composer and arranger. After completing his studies with celebrated singers such as Daniela Aimale and Luciano Saldari, he performed in several opera roles while graduating from Law School.
His passion for innovation, open source and accessibility fueled a long and successful career in technology that eventually brought him all the way to the USA and the beautiful PNW, where he spent more than a decade as a principal in Microsoft.

After retirement, he is grateful for the opportunity to go back to his long standing love for music, as well as to pursue his new found passion for teaching students how their voice can be a powerful way to express themselves. In his free time he likes to spend time with his two teenagers (who are both talented singers), his wife of +25 years (who cannot carry a tune) and two labrador dogs (who are quite decent at barking).
