Ruth Kenoteshe/her
Ruth is thrilled to be Music Directing her third show at Redmond Academy! Coming from a family of professional musicians, Ruth has been making music her entire life, and teaching Voice for over fifteen years. A student of both Houghton College and Australia’s Victorian College of the Arts, she holds a degree in Vocal Performance, with a foundation in both classical and contemporary techniques.
As a native New Yorker, Ruth has worked extensively in the NY/NJ theatre scene. Favorite past performances include the premier run of The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Paper Mill Playhouse, Jenny in It Shoulda Been You, Lucy (Beggar Woman) in Sweeney Todd, Nancy in OLIVER!, Marta in Company, Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act, Constanze in Amadeus, and the fierce Dragon in Shrek: The Musical. In addition to musical theater, Ruth possesses a love for jazz, and - true to her classical roots - art song and opera. Favorite classical performances include Carmen in Bizet's Carmen, Marcellina in Mozart's La Nozze di Figaro, and appearing with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra as the alto soloist for Beethoven's 9th Symphony. When she is not involved in a show, Ruth enjoys the outdoors, a good cup of coffee, and running her private studio, where she teaches voice and acting! Leah Astleshe/her
