Saw The Fantasticks off broadway in New York about 20 years ago....this brought back great memories for me, particularly enjoyed "Matt" and I appreciate the difficulty for young voices and your entire cast was obviously up for the challenge..."Luisa" will go far with that beautiful voice! - Goldstar Member

Our daughter has been a part of the Redmond Academy of Theatre Arts (RATA) for 2-3 years. Thanks to the guidance of such wonderful teachers such as Ms. Kelly and Ms. Lyndee, our daughter has blossomed from being a shy kid to one who is confident, sure of who she is, and comfortable performing in front of large audiences.

The environment at RATA is very safe and I feel very comfortable leaving my daughter there for extended periods of time. - Rachana M.

We found Redmond Academy through an internet search and were curious about their programs offered.  My daughter immediately fell in love the musical theatre programs, the instructors/directors and the other kids she met.  She has now been involved for over a year, attending summer camps, Jr Voices, voice lessons, and performing 5 different shows. Redmond Academy believes in really developing students in all aspects of musical theatre and beyond.  This is truly an enrichment program not to be overlooked. - Molly G.

For my daughter, musical theatre has been a great forum to build confidence, self esteem and forge friendships while developing skills to sing, dance and act.   Being on stage develops life skills that anyone can benefit from.  I would even classify it as a team sport learning to work with cast members to achieve a common goal.   Kelly Willis is generous in sharing her career skills on the stage with the kids and truly gives each one an opportunity to grow and learn in an environment they otherwise would not benefit from.

I went with my daughter in law and my 12 year old granddaughter. We all loved it. Everyone there at the school was so courteus and helpful. These teenagers were just amazing! The acting, the singing and especially the dancing were so perfect. I had seen this a long time ago in NYC but that production had nothing on this one. A pure JOY! - Goldstar Member

This program has been great for my son. He started at age 12 with a summer play production and has grown tremendously in the last two years.  This is a TEACHING program, not a razzle dazzle program.  The instructors care about each student's growth, not just about putting on a fancy show.  I had been frustrated with programs that were only for kids who wanted to be on Broadway.  While the artistic director has had students go on to professional work (including Broadway) her focus is on the student in the here and now. That being said, the shows are pretty impressive. - Jennifer M.

My three children (now all teens) have attended Redmond Academy, either taking classes, being in productions, or attending productions, since its inception.  This is a wonderful learning experience for all, and a welcoming place for parents.  Parents are never shooed away during class or rehearsal.   Just walking into the studio, you feel the magic of a working theatre when you see the lovely, creative, set pieces from prior productions, many of which have also been designed by Kelly's students, under her guidance.  Kelly works with all levels of experience and ability, regardless of whether a students' interest is in performing or technical theatre, and every student leaves with increased confidence and proficiency. The best thing about this business is Kelly's expertise in musical theater.  She knows how to develop kids' voices, acting, and dancing skills, all done in a way that keeps in mind the individual personality of the child involved.  This training transfers from the stage to other areas of the young performers' lives.  Some of her students have gone on to professional careers on Broadway or television, but even if that isn't their career goal, all of her students are enriched and have a wonderful time.  In addition, this is a lovely community of young actors and their families -- we have made many good friends here. - Heather H.

Kid Quotes

"The Redmond Academy is a place for love, friendship and memories while experiencing the joys of learning"-Joseph M.
"Redmond Academy makes me feel super welcome! I look forward to being there because we have lots of fun. I'm always excited for rehearsals because Miss Kelly is an awesome teacher and has the best drama company ever. I know Miss Kelly's got my back!" - Connor F.
"Redmond Academy is such a great place! I love doing shows and classes here because I get to learn so much about theatre in a fun, non-judgemental atmosphere." –Aleyanna A.
"Theatre has so many aspects and it is really helpful that there are opportunities to work on each specific aspect. Along with that, you make so many new friends and learn how important it is to work as a team to create a show." -Fiona F.
"Since meeting Kelly back in 2010, I have yet to meet someone who shares a fraction of the love that Kelly has for what she does. The RATA has helped me to expand my performing skills while providing a fun, friendly environment for learning. The shows are a blast, and under the direction of Kelly, Sarah, Lyndee, and others, the memories made here will be ones that I carry with me forever." - Madeleine B.
